Our compassionate and highly skilled nursing
team provides around-the-clock care directed
to each child’s comfort, dignity, and safety. They
carefully navigate the complexities of daily
treatment while establishing a peaceful
environment, trust aand reassurance for children
and their families. Protocols may include G-tube
feeds, respiratory treatments, and central line
care, as well as frequent repositioning, hygiene,
applying
orthotics,
and
more.
Families
appreciate that their children receive care which
closely parallels treatment plans adhered to at
home. The goal of respite care is to offer a
breather to parents who are often exhausted by
the complex care required for their child with
specialized medical needs.
Respite Care
George Mark Children’s House serves as a
bridge between hospital and home. We provide
direct bedside nursing care and education to
families who are navigating a new model of care
for their medically complex child. While learning
how to meet their child’s needs, care takers are
nurtured and empowered by the nursing staff.
Specialized skills are demonstrated, taught, and
observed while caregivers receive support. The
goal of transitional care is to build competency
and confidence within the family in order to
ensure a safe and comfortable transition to home.
