Students Celebrate Two Decades of Compassionate Fundraising for George Mark Children’s House

For 20 years, students at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, CA, have shown how small actions can create a big difference. Through their Mr. Amador program, they have raised $516,983 for George Mark Children’s House. This incredible effort proves that high schoolers have the power to change lives and bring hope to families in need. Every year, these teenage boys and young ladies dedicate their time to raising funds solely for GMCH.
The Mr. Amador program consists of fundraising activities throughout the school year, culminating with the annual Mr. Amador Show in April that features skits, dances, and auctions. The student who raises the most funds is crowned Mr. Amador. This event empowers students to connect deeply with their community, illustrating firsthand how their efforts create ripples of positive change.
“The dedication of Amador Valley High School students is truly inspiring and makes a tangible difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.”
– Shekinah Eliassen, GMCH CEO
This year’s event will be held on April 17 at 5 pm and 7 pm at the Amador High School Theater, 1155 Santa Rita Road in Pleasanton. If you’d like to contribute to this fun event and worthy cause, you can do so here. Members of the media are invited to attend this year’s Mr. Amador show to witness firsthand the students’ boundless creativity and compassion as they rally for an incredible cause.

Each dollar raised holds the promise of joy, dignity, and comfort for the children at George Mark — whether it’s offering them quality time with loved ones, a reprieve from hospital lights, or magical moments in a nurturing environment. Since its inception, Mr. Amador exemplifies what it means to use action and generosity to transform lives. What a terrific and meaningful lesson these students have learned at such a young age!
“Mr. Amador is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a life-changing experience for our students, teaching them compassion and the importance of giving back.”
– Jennifer Zuanich, Mr. Amador Show Advisor / Teacher at AVHS
