Background

Rock and roll legend Neil Young is contributing two songs to George Mark Children’s House’s virtual version of its successful Sound Bites event on Thursday, June 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  Mr. Young will be joining the virtual event via a brief pre-recorded performance, while country music stars Kristian Bush and Cassadee Pope will join live for one-on-one discussions and performances from their homes in Atlanta, GA and Nashville, TN, respectively.
Neil Young is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and activist.  To date he has recorded over fifty albums, received multiple Grammy and June Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a solo artist, and again as a member of Buffalo Springfield.  More than 50 years into his musical career, Mr. Young continues to record and tour on a regular basis. Kristian Bush, one-half of the country music super group Sugarland, has won just about every country music award there is to win, and garnered five number one singles in his illustrious career. Cassadee Pope is a Grammy-nominated country music powerhouse who exploded onto the scene after winning Season 3 of The Voice, and saw her debut single, “Wasting All These Tears,” go Platinum.  The CMT Next Women of Country honoree has previously hit the road with Country Superstars Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts. The evening will be hosted by San Francisco Chronicle Arts and Culture Critic Steven Winn.

For more information: https://georgemark.org/sound-bites-2020/ About George Mark Children’s House George Mark Children’s House (GMCH), located in San Leandro, California, is the Center of Excellence in Pediatric Palliative in the United States, and provides life affirming care for children with illnesses that modern healthcare cannot yet cure, or for those who have chronic medical conditions. GMCH bridges the gap between hospital and home, offering safe, excellent medical care in the comfort and warmth of a home-like setting for patients who do not need the resources of a full children’s hospital. GMCH offers three types of service: Transitional Care for children who have usually been in an acute care hospital setting and still need medical care, but not of an acute nature, before they transition to being cared for at home; End-of-Life Care, where a patient’s family can stay in its own family suite and surround their child with the love and the support; and Respite Care, where patients receive high-quality medical care and appropriate activities while offering parents and families a short break from the nonstop care at home.
