Force Friday Brings Star Wars Magic to George Mark
Star Wars Weekend kicked off in unforgettable fashion with a special Force Friday visit covered by ABC7 Eyewitness News.
Characters from the Golden Gate Garrison of The 501st Legion and the Endor Base of the Rebel Legion brought the galaxy to George Mark Children’s House, including Darth Vader and his stormtrooper, Kylo Ren, Rey, Chewbacca, and General Leia.
The day included a book reading, care packages for patients courtesy of our friends at Lucasfilm, and plenty of smiles throughout the House.
The biggest moment came when Darth Vader surprised Jahiem, a longtime member of the George Mark community who first came to us at age three in 2017.
Jahiem lives with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and has undergone three open heart surgeries. Because of his cardiac condition, he must limit physical activity and exertion, and he also manages complications related to impaired liver function.
For Jahiem, the Force Friday visit became even more special with a surprise presentation of a collectible lightsaber. It was a powerful and joyful moment, and the perfect way to begin Star Wars Weekend at George Mark.
