A Place to Call His Own – Kausha’s son Christian, now a young adult, went to George Mark for respite care many times over a 10-year period. Kausha is so grateful for the remarkable care and opportunities that Christian received at the House.
“George Mark is a place where children have experiences that they would not otherwise have– aquatic therapy, pet therapies and the visitors—the volunteers are amazing, and the time that they take with our children is beyond,” said Kausha.
The ability for Christian to be able to go somewhere and have somewhere to call his own meant everything to his entire family. “He uses eye gestures to communicate. The first day he was at the House, we asked him if he wanted us to stay with him and he’s just like no.”
“George Mark is an experience that you honestly can’t describe–because for a child with medical complexities it’s hard to have special life experiences.”
Christian’s family enjoyed attending House events to connect with the families behind all of the George Mark children.
